“Do you know who I am? I don’t know how to put this, but….I’m kind of a big deal. People know me.”

Ron Burgundy could not have said this any better. Money is growing in popularity by the minute. I can’t even go to the movies now, without somebody asking me for some gambling advice.

At this point most of my subscribers are using me for my basketball picks rather than my comedic wit. So with that, on with the picks.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 39 wins, 26 losses, 2 pushes). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

NC STATE -3 vs. Boston College
Get this early before the line moves up.

MARQUETTE +5 @ Notre Dame
ND will have no answer for Novak and their guards will be able to contain the Irish shooters.

KANSAS +7 @ Texas
Take the money line in this game. 60% of the time, it works every time.

GEORGIA TECH -3.5 vs. Wake Forest
Two teams that have disappointed this year. The difference is that the Ga tech is still playing hard. This will be a blowout.

TEMPLE +10.5 vs. Duke
Temple will really frustrate Redick and the Dukies.

Things are really picking up now with The Truth. Money has been on fire recently with his college basketball selections. There have been some early discussions (I don’t mind talking about this with you) regarding the opening up of another office in India to create a worldwide “look and feel” to The Truth.

Based on the tremendous feedback, I thought I would devote today’s section to our readers and open up the Mailbag! Who knows, maybe this will become a weekly feature. I am going to bounce this idea off my counterparts in India.

Money,
Great picks recently. Keep it up! What is your secret? I played 4 years at Colgate and I thought I had all the answers. Your basketball knowledge is vastly superior to mine. Did you play in college?
-Anonymous

Thanks Anonymous. No, I did not play in college. Just one year of fundamental basketball in high school and a gambling class at Cal. I have no secret to betting, but I do look at a lot of different numbers and statistics. The bottom line is I look for teams playing well that may not be nationally recognized vs. teams that are over-publicized that are playing poorly or in a slump. Case in point last night, UTEP +15 at Memphis.

Money,
What’s with your love affair of Kansas? It seems that you “make out” with them any chance you can get. I know you consider them a dark horse final four contender, are there others?
-Spuds

Spuds,
You are right, I like Kansas a lot, but I don’t think I am ready to take that relationship to the next level. To make it to the Final Four you need a team that plays tough defense with good guard play. Kansas could be there, same with Iowa, LSU, UCLA, George Mason and Arkansas.
$

Money,
I went to Santa Clara and am a big believer in the WCC. Do my Broncos have a chance to make the tournament? How far will Gonzaga go?
T-Bone

T-Bone,
The Broncos will have to win their conference tournament to make the NCAA tournament. Travis Niesen gives them hope, but their season will likely be done after the conference tournament. Incidentally, my hoops game has been compared to that lad.
I think Gonzaga will get to the sweet 16, but have a really hard time advancing any further. It would not shock me to see them lose in the second round. I do love Morrison (more than I love Kansas) and am hoping he plays until the end.
$

Money,
I am in Vero Beach, Florida scouting the Dodgers now. I plan on making a big splash to The Truth again once baseball season starts up again.
Oski

Thanks Oski. Our readers have been asking about you. They thought you died.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 39 wins, 26 losses). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

CAL -2 @ Washington state
If the Bears lose this game, they don’t deserve a ticket to the big dance.

Unnatural events cover a wide area of unexplained phenomena. They can be anything that happens without a natural explanation. Strange cloud formations, live animals falling from the sky, lights appearing out of nowhere, and Notre Dame outscoring Uconn in the second half 39-23 after being down 16 points at halftime in Hartford, Connecticut.

Uconn was absolutely dominating the Irish. They were killing them on the boards and every dunk became a “top 10 nominee” for espn. And then there was halftime. This is time when these kids get yelled (it works in college) at by the coach, or make defensive adjustments or simply start or stop playing. We have talked about it here before but halftime bets can be a great source of income.

The recommendation is simple. Most games end up pretty close to the forecasted line. If there is a huge discrepancy on either the favorite or underdog, then there is a likely a run coming, like the 25-2 run Notre Dame pulled off last night. This situation is especially true when a home team is down. Arkansas was favored by 7.5 points at home last night vs. Alabama, yet they were facing a 13 point deficit at halftime. The halftime bet in that situation is -5.5 for Arkansas, meaning they are going to LOSE the game by 7. Money will take that bet any day. Arkansas, incidentally outscored Alabama 41-26 in the second half, winning the game by 2, and covering the initial spread for Money.

What are the next unnatural events we are likely to see tonite? You may see cows standing upright doing the Macarena, but I think it is likelier will see these underdogs coming in tonite for Money. The truth is out there.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 37 wins, 26 losses). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

LaSALLE +12 @ George Washington
The Explorers are just as good as GW, just not as visible.

UTEP +15 @ Memphis
This is definitely an unnatural event, but it is the right thing to do.

INDIANA STATE +12 @ Creighton
This team is gellin’ like Bartolomeu Dias

Texas is a very talented team. But they are not going to win the national championship. Why does Money feel this way? First of all, there is the one horrific loss to Duke in December by over 30 points. Yes, it was a long time ago, but no team has ever won a national championship while suffering a 30+ point loss that same season. I am not going against that trend. The second reason is their lack of consistency. At times, they appear to be unstoppable, but other times, they seem mediocre. So much so, that they lose to Oklahoma state. I don’t care what the situation was in Stillwater, or how many pills Eddie Sutton is popping, Texas should not lose to OSU.

They have an extremely talented team and very well could make the final four. You just won’t see Money picking them as the national champion in any of his pools this year.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 35 wins, 26 losses). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

NOTRE DAME +13.5 @ Connecticut
I hate betting against this team, but this line and situation forces me to. Notre Dame desperately needs this game to qualify for the big east tournament. Uconn will be thinking about revenge and Villanova on Sunday

ALABAMA +8 @ Arkansas
This line is too high. Both teams are playing well. This will be very close.

Does anybody want to win the PAC 10? Cal loses against a horrifically bad Arizona state team at home. UCLA loses to USC even with one of their leading scorers out with a hairline fracture. And Stanford misses out on a chance to reach second place by losing at home to one of the worst Arizona teams in years.

As I have said all year long, this is a very down year for the PAC 10, with no team except for UCLA, capable of reaching the sweet 16. With all that said, I do think that UCLA could make it to the final four in the right situation. Ben Howland has this team heading in the right direction. They could do some damage. The other teams will do nothing.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 34 wins, 26 losses). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

TEXAS TECH +4 vs. Oklahoma
A gift from the heavens above.

There are quite a few interesting stories going on college basketball leading up to the tournament. Which coach will be fired next? Will this be the year that a number 1 seed finally falls to a 16 seed? Is there a better college basketball handicapper in the country than Money?

All great stories, but I am most interested in the battle of Morrison vs. Redick. Who will win the Player of the Year? Redick plays for Duke and is on TV twice a week and is constantly gushed over by Vitale and all the other commentators on the east coast from espn that don’t stay up late enough to watch Gonzaga. Morrison does not get the publicity but is doing his best to keep his name in the race.

Last night he scored 44 points. Redick knows this, and my Money is on Redick going for 45 today vs. Miami.

Money's trip to the Bank: (Money's Cash cow to date - 33 wins, 25 losses). The team in ALL CAPS is my pick.

GEORGETOWN +7.5 @ Villanova
Possible let down game for Villanova after big win vs. Uconn. This game means more to the Hoyas, as the Wildcats have very little left to prove.

NORTH CAROLINA -4 @ Wake Forest
Wake Forest will play hard in this game, but they don’t have the manpower to keep up.
